Ed Cordes was appointed a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Trustee over a 22,000 acre trophy ranch near Walden, Colorado. The ranch is a working ranch with several employees, multiple residences/shops/barns and contained significant mineral interests and water rights. Ranch hands maintained and cared for approximately 1,700 head of cattle owned by a third party. There were active oil & gas wells on the property as well as active drilling during the course of the bankruptcy as a result of agreements with a significant oil & gas company, including the sale of significant water for use in the drilling programs in the area. The bankruptcy filing resulted from underlying partnership disputes between the two owners coupled with some financial struggles related to the on-going payment of the debt obligations to a national agricultural lender, who held a security interest in all the assets of the ranch. The Trustee has been working through a myriad of operating and financial issues related to the ranch and the on-going partnership disputes.
