The partners in a 20,000-acre master-planned lakefront development in New Mexico were mired in litigation – engaged in ten active lawsuits. The minority partner alleged that the managing partner was acting with self-interest and using the assets of the company to finance litigation against the minority partner. The Arapahoe County District Court appointed Cordes & Company as receiver over the development companies. Cordes took possession and is resolving litigation, preserving and improving the development’s value, and readying it for sale. This process involves maintenance of the property, cleaning of the title and resolving of various federal, state and local issues. Cordes continues to work with all parties on reaching an equitable settlement.
